Whitepaper: Disruptive Models of Education
How can we improve our schools to be responsive to the individual needs of our students? Sparked by COVID-19, we are presented with a unique opportunity to put an end to the "one size fits all" factory model of education and design a system of education and child development in a planful, competent manner.
Blended Learning, part online and part from home, is the disruption that is needed. It allows students to set their own pace and to have some element of control over time, place, path or pace of their learning. Blended Learning allows students to set their own pace. Blended Learning can reduce costs to school districts and expand opportunities for mixing students in a variety of ways. Most of all, students report that Blended Learning can be a fun and engaging way to learn.
The Systems/Design model, which this consultant believes is the best model would best fit the need for implementing Blended Learning models is outlined from the initial evaluation to the implementation and ongoing assessment and iteration of the approach.
